Past Projects
As an arts management student, I was taught how to utilize different softwares often used by professionals in the arts industry, write proposals and so on. Here are some of my attempts!
Graphic Design
Assessment Poster
Designed for a photography exhibition named Undescribed #7, this poster was created using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

Undescribed #7 is an annual platform conceived to support emerging artists based in Singapore who have
recently graduated from local and overseas art institutions. The exhibition presents works that challenge and rethink current image-making practices, suggesting new ways to approach photography and the moving image within the field of art today.

Graphic Design
Assessment Key Image
This image is an original creation, made using Adobe Photoshop.
The three traditional dancers represent the three major races in Singapore. The dancers are cloned in a glitch-like format, evoking a sense of movement, mimicking dance choreographies.

The glitch background represents contemporary dance, which is modern, like technology.

The point where the two meet is where colours burst out of the dancers, creating something new out of the old, which ties into the concept of how experimenting with tradition and novelty, gives life to interesting works.

The colourful dancers juxtapose the dull background, attracting attention.

Typography is kept minimal and white, which creates balance and contrast against the noisy background.

Sound Design for Barkings by Alfian Sa'at
This sound design was created on GarageBand. Using an Audio Technica ATR2500x USB condenser microphone, I recorded my voice, which was used as the main voiceover of the soundtrack and other vocal layers. Other sound samples were sourced from Freesound.
Barkings by Alfian Sa’at explores Alfian’s personal life. The introduction features the sound of leaves rustling, followed by dogs barking and an ambient call to prayer. This creates an outdoor atmosphere, reminiscent of a walk “past the joss-stick market”. The instruments set the tone, and aid in building tension. I reversed the first dog barking and panned it left and right through half of the track, to create an illusion of dogs barking at each other. To aid in visualisation at different points of the text, literal sounds of flies and laughter were used. To emphasize significant keywords such as ‘just in case’, ‘failure’, ‘voices of my sisters’, ‘slam into doors’, and ‘prayer’, I layered parts of the voiceover and used different plug-ins to add audio effects. The soundtrack ends with only the Fingerstyle Bass, which fades out gradually, conveying feelings of emptiness.
